Transforming health of people in Northeast Ohio through a jointly-developed innovative workforce who Heal, Teach, Discover, and Care.

The affiliation between University Hospitals and Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) originally began in 2012. Over the years, the affiliation was extended and strengthened with the agreement to support the joint aim of developing leadership and deploying a transformational workforce to heal, teach, and discover, and care for the underserved populations in Cuyahoga County and other Ohio counties.

University Hospitals and NEOMED recognize that affiliation activities involving faculty and students create a broader academic medical center and aim to invest in onsite facilities for students and faculty at their respective locations. Among several new initiatives, the major affiliates will grow NEOMED’s medicine, pharmacy and certified anesthesia assistant class sizes; expand involvement of NEOMED students and faculty at University Hospitals; and develop a University Hospitals Faculty Scholars Program. Additionally, the organizations will increase University Hospitals health professionals’ participation in NEOMED health care executive education and leadership programs and advance research and innovation by collaborating across specific research areas and thought-leadership programming.
